Saturday Tim and I went to a farmer’s market in downtown Cincinnati with Meghan and her boyfriend, Josh. It was a little cold and cloudy all day, but that didn’t stop the droves of people from wanting to be outside. I can’t imagine how crowded it is during the warm and sunny summer days if it was this packed on a chilly and gloomy day in March. We walked around for a couple of hours, checking out the fresh veggies and flowers the market had to offer. The produce looked fresh and the price was right to buy. One of the things I bought was a huge tub of Organic Spring Mix for $2. This baby would have easily cost $6 at Whole Foods so it was hard to pass up!
I had this in a huge salad after my 8 mile run (1:17!) on Sunday morning. It was filled with spring mix, diced carrots, and drizzled with Red Wine and Olive Oil Vinaigrette from Trader Joe’s. It was also sprinkled with a little sea salt, and topped with fresh diced tomato, which was another market find. For five large tomatoes it only cost $2. Plus they were fresh and delicious, definitely a win-win!
Another produce that caught my eye? Strawberries, which were 2 pounds for $3.50. I decided that it would be fun to make a Strawberry Milkshake for Tim and I to share after dinner.
