I have always been into health and fitness, but over the last few years it has become more important to me than ever. I fell in love with this lifestyle while interning at the Student Wellness Center during my senior year at OSU.
After graduating, I moved back in with my parents and while living at home in between college and my wedding, I became used to running my own ship by not only controlling my fitness schedule, but also focusing on what I was putting into my body. I hope to take these healthy habits I have and continue them with my new husband, only in a less structured way. There will be pizza, there will be extra sleep and there will be skipping runs to snuggle instead.. but that’s okay! My definition of health is both physical AND mental. Sometimes a sugary cupcake or a greasy cheeseburger can be as good for your soul as a grilled chicken salad.

However, there is a time and place for all things. The objective is to treat your body with respect while giving it what it needs. This blog is a place for me to share my feelings, life events, fitness routines, recipe creations, home decorating, family, friends, and of course the love and special moments I share with my new husband. I hope to show that having a new life as a newlywed allows you to become healthier both on the inside and outside. Follow my adventures here!

hey Jana! I came across your blog today and enjoyed reading a little bit of your life! I went to Jamaica last year, May of 2011 and LOVED IT!!! Did you go for your honeymoon? I went to celebrate my 11th anniversary.
Anyway, just wanted to give you a little cheer for starting a blog, I love reading blogs and I have just added yours to my list to follow. Happy 2012 and many and many wishes of a wonderful journey in your marriage! XX
Thanks for reading! Yes, we went to Montego Bay, Jamaica and loved it! We stayed at the Sandals Royal Caribbean and enjoyed every moment! What part of Jamaica did you go to and where did you stay?
We also stayed in Montego Bay, in the Secrets Resort. Our trip was originally from Thursday thru Monday, 5 days, only to discover that on Monday morning, after finished with the check out and arrived at the airport to catch our plane back to the USA, ALL flights were cancelled, ALL OF THEM until the following Wednesday. The air traffic control went on strike that morning. :/ So, after the initial shock and about $600.00 later, we ended up staying a total of 7 days, which was nice after all, bcs we made some really cool friends there and being able to wake up with the most beautiful ocean view for a couple more days was simply priceless! Ya Mon! =)
Oh my gosh, that is nuts! Luckily the strike didn’t last any longer than it did! I don’t think I would have been too upset either if we would have stayed a few extra days though..
Crazy expensive, yet such an amazing time!
hello! just stumbled on your blog and wanted to say hi – i’m an ohio native, living in denver (saw your pup is named tebow!) planning my wedding in cincinnati! congratulations on your wedding, by the way
you look gorgeous in the photo above! anyway, just wanted to say hi!
Thank you for reading and for saying hi! I want to be an Ohio native living in Denver too..
My husband is a huge Broncos fan, hint the name Tebow! Can I ask what your wedding venue is? I don’t know if you have ever heard of Beavercreek, Oh, but my wedding was held there at Country Club of the North!
hey jana!! i love your blog! you write in a style that’s really enjoyable to read. i love your approach to healthy living. also, i was reading one of your older posts and that whole shredding chicken thing using the hand mixer is SUCH a neat idea – thanks for the tip! cant wait to read more
Thank you Mallory! I am glad you found me and that you loved the shredding chicken/hand mixer trick. I couldn’t believe it the first time I tried it. So easy and time efficient. I didn’t even have to wait for the chicken to cool before it was shredded!
Hi Jana!
Congratulations on being newly married- that’s so exciting! I’m so glad I found your blog and can’t wait to follow you on your health journey!
I couldn’t agree more with your philosophy on a healthy lifestyle- there is a time and place for everything and it’s so important to let your body rest and have a cheeseburger from time to time

Hi Shelby!! I am so happy you found my blog and I am glad my healthy living philosophy resonates with your own..
Hey there fellow buckeye alum! Love the blog! Can’t wait to read more! OH-IO!
Whoo hoo!! Go bucks!
I just discovered your blog today! I have been reading healthy living blogs for about 8 months now and have been really learned a lot. I also live in the Dayton area so I am excited to have a local blog to read! I have been wanting to start my own blog but am very nervous to do so.
Hello to a fellow Daytonian!! I am excited you are reading. If you want to start a blog, just give it a shot. I was nervous too at first, but now it’s so fun!
I just found your blog and boy am i glad i did
What a small world it is! Can’t wait to read more
I’m from Middletown (suburbs of dayton and cinci!) and am at OSU now in Public Affairs Journalism and Nutrition in Industry
Hi Jana! I have seen your comments on a lot of the blogs I love to read and kept meaning to check out your blog since I always love your comments. I finally did today and I’m so glad I did! You have a great blog and are just all around a beautiful person. Great idea for blogging about staying healthy while transitioning to being married-I know that’s a tricky one for many people. I can’t wait to read more!
Thank you so much Laura! Your comment is one of the reasons why I love writing this blog so much! My readers are amazing! I know how hard life is, (and married life!), but it is fun to write about the things I go through and realize that everyone has their own troubles! It makes my issues feel so much like they aren’t since everyone experiences similar ones..
I am so glad you found my blog girl!
You’re the cutest, I’m glad I found your blog!
Aww thank you so much Jennifer! Glad you found my blog
Hi! I am a native of the Dayton area myself, and I stumbled onto your blog and thought it would be fun to say hello. Your genuine, sweet personality definitely shines through your writing. Thanks for sharing your life!
P.S. You are such a good wife for letting your hubby name your puppy Tebow! I tried to convince my husband “Tebow” is a good name, but he nixed it right away!
Aww thank you Aimee! Your comment made my day
I am so glad you found me and enjoy reading! Ha ha we both like Tim Tebow so it worked out pretty well! My husband is a bigger Denver Broncos fan, but I may just slightly be a bigger fan of Tim Tebow
lol!
I’m glad I finally had a chance to pop by your about page. We seem to have a lot in common, especially the “healthy living” being not only a physical thing, but mental too!
Love ya girlie
You were/are such a beautiful bride!
Aww yay!! I am glad you got a chance too! I agree that we seem to have a lot in common, which is one of the many reasons I love your blog!
Thanks for stopping by pretty girl!
My hubby is a big OSU fan.
I’m a Gator, but hopefully we can still be friends haha! Have a great day, girl!
I’m in the same situation as you when it comes to living at home before getting married. This is really the time where I’ve focused a ton on my healthy/fitness, and I can’t wait to carry out my new habits with my new husband!!
I didn’t know that you were a journalism major! I was Communication, but hoping to break into a journalism career. Do you think you’ll ever try a career in writing? I’m debating what I want to do in the future because I don’t like sitting in front of a computer all day!
